Story 1, Chapter 4: The Traitor

In a covered wagon, about a day’s ride to Vienna’s west, Count Orsi arose as the sun fell. The heavy set, monstrous Ventrue smiled to himself as he emerged from his traveling coffin, inside the wagon. “Serving boy!” he called, “Where is my evening meal?”

A roughed up mercenary peered in through the wagon’s coverings and sneered at Orsi. “Forgive me, master,” he said with a deep sarcasm. “But your creature comforts are back in Vienna. Now… where did you want us to take you? You’re paying enough for us after all.”

“Spain,” Orsi answered. “Take me to Spain. We shall see what comes of their great navies and merchants…”
